Book of Hopi - outside reading

I read a good chunk of The Book of Hopi by Frank Waters because I became intrigued by the Hopi people when we discussed them in class. The first few chapters of this book are about the Hopi’s creation story. I found it incredibly intriguing and will likely write about it in my research paper for this course. I know we talked about their emergence from the Kiva in class and described the Kiva as an Axis Mundi, but to read about all of the story behind that was really interesting. A layer of their story that I thought was really intriguing was how the ultimate creator god created lesser gods to do his creating for him, yet all of creation worships him in harmony. He hardly did any of the creation work, yet he is worshiped as the ultimate creator. I feel like that kind of reasoning would not stick very well in the West, at least in modern times. Current Western society places a lot of importance upon giving credit where credit is due.
