Disc Golf - Student Choice
I have been playing a lot of disc golf lately. I have enjoyed it for so many reasons, whether it be the competition, the satisfaction of improvement, or the time and space that I get to spend in the woods. When I go out to play disc golf alone, I never take headphones. I simply let my thoughts be influenced by my surroundings. Some days it is my playing that fills my thoughts. Some days it is the beauty of the woods. Some disc golf courses are designed using the natural shape of the woods. Between sets of trees, there are natural gaps that form a tunnel straight to a basket. These holes are typically very hard to play, but there is something so beautiful about a disc weaving between trees in an S-shape, never hitting them, and settling down right at the base of a basket. The serenity of watching a well-thrown disc fly brings me a lot of joy and helps me clear my head. Something about driving out to a place in the woods for that specific experience of seeing what I do fit perfectly into creation is priceless to me. When I have had a stressful week, I can go out on a Friday afternoon and feel connected to God’s beautiful creation. I can spend time in it and engage with it actively.
